For the 12th year, American Softwoods (AMSO), (a promotional campaign of the Southern Pine Council, APA-The Engineered Wood Association and the Softwood Export Council), exhibited at the Dubai Wood Show held April 12-14.  This show is the premier event for the wood industry in the Middle East and North African region. A 21-member AMSO delegation fielded inquiries from importers, distributors and design professionals regarding the uses and benefits of US softwood lumber.

More than 200 exhibitors from 42 countries participated in this three-day event and visitors from throughout the Middle East, India and Pakistan attended.

“Sales in 2017 amounted to $5 million and by the end of 2018, sales had increased to $11.04 million. January 2019 has seen a dramatic increase in sales from $168,000 in 2018 to $558,000 in 2019 and while it is dangerous to read too much into one month’s figures, the overall trend is encouraging.” stated Dacia Foster, Softwood Export Council. Overall, exports of US softwood lumber to Pakistan continue to increase.
