The union representing Ontario Power Generation’s frontline workers is looking to enlist public support in a campaign to have the government pick biomass as one of the primary options to fuel its coal plants when it ends the use of coal fuel in 2014. The Power Workers’ Union launched a series of in-person and telephone conference-call town hall meetings last month to bring the message to people in over a dozen areas of the province about the merits of biomass as fuel and to answer questions they may have. It has also established a website — www.ontariogrownpower.ca/.
