Kenora’s Weyerhaeuser plant increasing to five days of production

December 18, 2012

Kenora’s Weyerhaeuser mill has hired 20 new staff and as of Jan. 1, 2013, will be increasing its operations to five days a week. The mill has been operating a four-day shift, which is about 70 per cent of its capacity but plant manager Bill Candline said with the new staff, it will be performing at 80 per cent. “There’s energy savings, wherever we can reduce our costs, we can sell more of our product and there has been an increase in the housing market in the U.S., which we expect to continue in the coming year,” Candline explained.
